History

             The local belief suggests that St. John de Britto passed through the village of Kurumilangudi on his final journey from Ramnad to Oriyur. It's likely that the village converted to the faith shortly after the saint's martyrdom. Initially part of Karankadu parish, Kurumilangudi was established as a separate parish in 1922. The patrons of this parish are saints Joachim and Anne. In 1989, the Thondi area became a separate parish, leading to some villages that were part of Kurumilangudi parish now belonging to neighboring parishes like C.K. Mangalam and Nagarikathan.
