Bishop Edward Francis (1930–2017) was the first Bishop of the Diocese of Sivagangai in Tamil Nadu. He was born on 3 June 1930 in Sendamaram, Tamil Nadu and was ordained a priest on 25 March 1957.

When the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sivagangai was established in 1987, Pope John Paul II appointed him as its first bishop. He was consecrated bishop on 30 August 1987 and led the diocese with dedication until his retirement in 2005.

During his episcopal ministry, Bishop Edward Francis laid a strong foundation for the pastoral, educational, and social development of the diocese. He promoted the growth of parishes, mission stations, educational institutions, and social service activities, helping the young diocese to grow in faith and organization.

After serving the Church for 60 years as a priest and 29 years as a bishop, he passed away on 11 April 2017. He was buried in the Alangara Annai Cathedral, Sivagangai. He is remembered for his simple leadership, missionary zeal, and dedication to his vocation.
