History 

             Thondi, once an ancient harbor known to historical figures like Ptolemy, Pliny, and early Muslim writers, has evolved into a significant Muslim town. In 1988, Kurumilangudi parish was divided, giving rise to Thondi as a new parish with 15 sub-stations. A splendid church, dedicated to Our Lady of Bon Voyage, was constructed and blessed in 1979, drawing visitors from diverse religious backgrounds. However, a new and larger church has since replaced the old one, symbolizing the growth and transformation of the community.
