             The R.S. Mangalam parish was established on Pentecost Sunday, the 19th of May 1991, with Fr. G. Vincent Amalraj appointed as its inaugural parish priest. This new parish was created by merging three ancient parishes: Irudayapuram (consisting of 11 villages), Karankadu (comprising 9 villages), and Kikkurani (including 7 villages). Subsequently, a new church was constructed on the 5-acre plot of land acquired earlier, and it was consecrated in honor of the Holy Spirit on the 8th of August 1992. With the completion of the new presbytery, R.S. Mangalam was elevated to the status of a Vicariate Centre.
