History

             Orikkottai parish was erected in 1967. Fr. K.M. Sengol was appointed as its first parish priest. With the strong support of the community, he made significant contributions by constructing a notable school building and several chapels in the sub-stations. Previously, this village was part of Puliyal parish, which was at the center of a jurisdictional conflict involving a rebellious Goanese priest in 1857. This conflict was resolved through persistent prayers and efforts, notably by Fr. Perrin and his successor in 1858, leading to the village's conversion and ongoing improvement.
