History
In 1865, the seeds of faith were planted in this village by Fr. J.B. Trincal, who oversaw a vast region extending from Kamuthi to the Western Ghats. Then, in 1923, Fr. Pignol laid the foundation for the present renovated Church. Under the guidance of Fr. P. Montaud, who served as its resident pastor from 1928 to 1940, K.M. Kottai grew into an established parish with its church and school.
In the 1970s, there was an attempt to relocate the parish center to Aruppukottai for improved amenities, but this plan was ultimately abandoned by God's providence. At one time, this parish had 30 substations. However, since the formation of the Sivagangai diocese from the Madurai Archdiocese, it has become a single-village parish.
