History

The parish of Kallal was established in 1989 under the supervision of the Vincentian Fathers. It comprises twelve substations that were previously part of the Kuthalur and Satharasanpatti parishes. The newly constructed church in this area was blessed on May 5th, 1992.

This parish is notable for housing two important pilgrimage sites: Sevarakottai, dedicated to Our Lady of Pilgrimage, and Paganeri, which honors St. John de Britto. It was at Paganeri that St. John de Britto endured many humiliations and torments.
