History
The parish of Pamban was erected on 22nd May 1990 under the leadership of Most Reverend Edward Francis. Previously, it had functioned as a sub-station of the Thangachimadam parish. It is believed that this area may have been evangelized by St. Francis Xavier himself, much like other coastal villages in the region. The inaugural parish priest was Fr. Susai Arockiasamy.
Initially, the parish priest resided in the sacristy of St. Antony's church, which had been constructed by the Missionaries nearly 150 years ago. On the day of the parish's establishment, the Bishop laid the foundation stone for the new parish church. The dedication of the new church and Presbytery took place on 13th October 1993, officiated by the Bishop.
